Case 06 - 36 year old male with knee pain
36 year old male with acute onset bilateral knee pain.
- Look familiar? This patient also has multiple, serpiginous lesions confined to the medullary space of the femur and tibia compatible with bone infarcts. On further questioning the patient recently finished a course of high dose steroids for a Crohn's flare.
- Imaging of the contralateral knee showed similar lesions. Symmetry is another important feature of bone infarcts when the etiology is in question.
- Though uncommon, even a single course of corticosteroids have been associated with bone infarcts.
