Case 27 - 36 year old male with fall onto anterior knee playing soccer
36 year old male with fall onto left knee while playing soccer one week prior.
Case discussion:
There is a moderate
joint effusion
, as well as swelling and edema of the
pretibial soft tissues
.
Similar to prior cases we can see high signal, thickening, and buckling of the proximal
PCL fibers
, as well as, best seen on the
axial images
.
These findings are familiar to us and indicate a
complete tear of the PCL.
The only additional finding of note is areas of
superficial fraying
,
deep fissuring
, and
full thickness cartilage loss
within the patellofemoral compartment.
