Case 09 - 22 y/o male with left hip tightness 5698165
Case 9: 22 year old male basketball player with left hip tightness.
- This case should show some familiar findings - there is bony prominence along the femoral head-neck junction, best appreciated on the coronal sequences, that can be seen in the setting of cam-type femoral acetabular impingement (FAI).
- Remember that cam-type FAI is often associated with injury to the cartilage. Scroll through each plane and note the contrast signal running through the anterior and anterosuperior labrum, reflecting tears of the labrum.
- Also note the heterogeneity of the underyling articular cartilage suggesting a component of early injury. There is also suggestion of faint linear signal undercutting the superior cartilage, which suggests a component of chondral delamination.
