Case 08 - 76 y/o female with left hip pain after falling 5688861
Case 8: 76 year old woman with left hip pain after fall.
- A not-so-subtle, jagged, low-intensity line is seen coursing through the intertrochanteric region of the proximal femur, with an extensive amount of surrounding edema.
- There is extensive T2 hyperintense signal throughout the surrounding musculature compatible with edema as well.
- Findings are compatible with an intertrochanteric fracture in this patient with a history of trauma.
- A correlating plain film demonstrates an abnormal linear lucency through the greater trochanter also confirms this intertrochanteric fracture. You may have noted an abnormal femoral head neck junction, although there is no associated edema on the MRI and this turned out to be an old fracture.
