Case 10
The articular disc appears intact apart from some questionable low grade carpal-sided tears
here and
here.
The presence of a corticated
ossicle with bone marrow edema adjacent to the ulnar
styloid process somewhat complicates the analysis of the ulnar attachments...
Given the normal size of the styloid process, the ossicle likely represents an accessory ossicle termed the os triangulare. Other accessory ossicles in the region include the persistent ulnar styloid ossicle, and the lunula. Alternatively, this could represent a chronic ulnar styloid process fracture.
If this is an accessory ossicle, then it is unclear if the styloid attachment of the TFC would normally attach to it, or the styloid process itself. In this case the styloid attachment is not well seen.
Regardless the
foveal attachment is not seen at its expected location and is likely completely torn.
