Case 10 - 24 year old male with chronic anterior left knee pain

24 year old male runner with chronic anterior left knee pain

Case discussion:
  • It's always important to check for the alignment of the patellofemoral joint, especially in patient's presenting with anterior knee pain; in this case the patient has a prominent odd facet and abnormal lateral patellar tilt.
  • Additionally, focal edema is seen within the superolateral Hoffa's fat pad.
  • This constellation of findings in a patient presenting with anterior knee pain suggests an impingement syndrome, in this case likely due to patellofemoral maltracking.
