Case 07 - 22 y/o male athlete with left hip pain 5513910
Case 7: 22 year old male athlete with chronic left hip pain.
- A large ossicle is seen along the lateral aspect of the acetabulum, compatible with an os acetabulum. In addition, there is a prominent osteophyte along the head-neck junction of the proximal femur laterally - this set of findings is compatible with a combination of cam and pincer type femoral-acetabular impingement (FAI).
- These bony changes are seen very clearly on corresponding CT images.
- Similar to case 6, there is stress on the intervening labrum, although on this arthrogram a discrete tear is not seen. Instead, there is degenerative fraying of the labrum, with abnormal signal and loss of its normal triangular morphology. The articular cartilage also demonstrates early signs of injury, with heterogeneity and thinning along the superior cartilage.
